What is PFAS?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as “forever chemicals”, are a large collection of manufactured chemicals that have become an increased health concern within drinking water. Many of these chemicals are widely used within industrial and consumer products including, cosmetics, heat resistant cookware, firefighting foams, and repellant coatings on fabrics and paper. Part of what makes PFAS so commercially appealing is their strong ability to resist breaking down, which has resulted in their widespread and persistent presence within the environment. As these chemicals have accumulated within our surroundings they have also accumulated within ourselves, along with fish and wildlife. Exposure to PFAS can come from food, water, and air, potentially having travelled long distances from where they were first introduced. Not much is known about the effects of many PFAS compounds, because studies are currently limited. Some studies have indicated that select PFAS compounds may lead to adverse health outcomes. Some of these effects include; reproductive issues, developmental issues, increased risk of some cancers, reduced immune response, hormonal disruption, increased cholesterol, and a heightened risk of obesity.

The Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B is a specialized 3-stage carbon filtration system, targeting the removal of Total PFAS* (see chart in specifications). This system is also very capable at removing other contaminants such as chlorine taste and odor, lead (by up to 99.9%), microplastics, certain organic contaminants, and more (see chart in specifications). A part of Pentair's FreshPoint series, the Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B is designed for easy operation and convenient under-sink installation. Sized at 12.5 inches high by 11.25 inches wide by 5.46 inches deep, the Pentair FreshPoint F-3000-B2B can fit comfortably under most standard kitchen sinks. Standard 3/8-inch push-fit plumbing connections make for a more straightforward installation. It’s a system that’s not only designed for PFAS filtration, it’s a system that’s third-party certified by two separate parties for the removal of Total PFAS*. The Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B is tested and certified by NSF International for the reduction of Total PFAS* by up to 99.7%, along with lead, microplastics, chlorine taste and odor and other undesirable contaminants (see chart in specifications). The system is secondarily certified by IAPMO R&T for the reduction of Total PFAS* (see chart in specifications). The Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B Filtration System delivers low-flow filtered water on demand through a dedicated faucet. No storage tank necessary! As a 3-stage filtration system you get 3 replaceable cartridge filters. To keep maintenance simple, all cartridge filters are equipped with effortless click-in, click-out connections, allowing for faster, tool-free filter replacements. Integrated check valves mean you can replace each filter without needing to shut off the water supply—ensuring no splash, no spray, and no mess! Each filter is color-coded and clearly labeled to prevent installation mistakes.
The 3 replaceable filters include:
- F1S5-RC (yellow): Sediment Pre-Filter
- F2B2-RC2 (twin pack, red): Carbon post-filter
The system operates on your existing household water pressure (see operation requirements in specifications). The Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B has an added sediment pre-filter for feed-water conditions with elevated sediment to protect the subsequent carbon post-filters. Each post-filter contains strategically engineered carbon to both target Total PFAS* and to provide premium carbon filtration. For the Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B no electrical connections are necessary!
Under normal operating conditions, the pre-filter and post-filters are each rated to last up to 12 months. This filter life is twice as long as what is typically recommended for many comparable quick-connect filter systems. With long-lasting filters like these, you can rest easy knowing you won’t have to deal with the cost of frequent filter replacements.
The Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B includes a dedicated air-gap drinking-water faucet, which will need to be installed unless the system is connected directly to a refrigerator with a built-in water dispenser or ice maker.

This system is designed for use on all chlorinated and non-chlorinated potable water supplies. It is an excellent choice for most homes. If you do not receive your water from a municipal water system (you get your water from a well, lake or other non-treated source), you should have your water tested to ensure it is biologically safe (free of bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms) before using a carbon filtration system as your only water treatment. The Pentair FreshPoint F3000-B2B PFAS Filtration System mounts under your sink, in your home, or in your RV, out of sight. Water supply is gained by attaching a simple adapter to your cold water supply pipe (copper or plastic). You will have to drill a hole in your countertop or sink frame to attach the air gap faucet, unless you are connecting the RO system to your fridge ice-maker or dispenser. drilling a hole in your countertop or sink frame is a relatively easy do-it-yourself project, or if you prefer, you can have it installed by a handyman or plumber.
