Description & Benefits
MicroTurb™ Premium Series particulate reduction filters are designed for convenient, automated turbidity and sediment reduction treatment without the need to replace filters. MicroTurb™ filters backwash automatically as required to prevent clogging. The backwash is carefully controlled by a premium-grade Fleck 5810SXT digital control valve which comes pre-programmed for your convenience.
All MicroTurb™ Premium systems utilize NextSand media, the world's most advanced turbidity reduction media. In addition to providing much finer filtration than traditional sand and multi-media filters, NextSand requires less backwash rate and volume, has higher service flow rates for a given volume of media, and it costs less too! It also outperforms FilterAg, FilterAg+, MicroZ, FilterZ, Turbidex and all other turbidity media. Nothing outperforms NextSand!
- Premium brand-name digital control valve (Fleck 5810SXT) with simple programming and operation
- Very fine filtration (3 to 5 microns nominal filtration possible)
- No filter cartridges to replace!
- Superior flow rates 3-4 times that of multimedia
- High capacity filtration throughout the entire NextSand bed depth provides more than twice the dirt-holding capacity of multimedia filtration
- Cost-effective and long-lasting media (5 to 10 years)
- Simple, automated periodic backwash keeps the media clean and operating efficiently
- Simple operation with no day-to-day maintenance
- Great warranty (5 years on control valve, 10 years on tank)
- Bypass included
Ideal for the treatment of city water, well water, rainwater, and surface water (lakes, streams, and rivers).
- removes dirt, sediment, and particulate
- removes rust (oxidized iron)
- filters down to 3 to 5 microns
- No filter cartridges to replace
- Long-life media
- Fully automated periodic backwash
- prevent sediment from damaging your water heater and appliances
- no more dull gray laundry caused by dirt and sediments
All MicroTurb™ Premium systems are optimally designed to ensure that you can achieve the peak performance out of your NextSand media. Sadly, many of our competitors ignore the manufacturer's optimization specifications when they design their systems. Accordingly, their systems do not contain sufficient media to achieve the fine filtration capabilities of NextSand, or they contain too much media relative to the tank size thereby inhibiting the backwash process and causing premature clogging.
MicroTurb™ Premium systems are designed to backwash periodically to eject trapped sediment and particulates. Accordingly, the control valve is connected to a drain and the backwash water, together with the rejected contaminants, is simply discharged to the drain during the backwash process. The backwash is controlled by the premium grade Fleck 5810 SXT digital control valve and is generally programmed to occur in the middle of the night (fully adjustable) when you are not likely to be using any water. In a typical residential application, the NextSand media should be replaced approximately every 5 to 10 years to maintain optimal performance.
How MicroTurb™ Premium Works
The heart of all of our MicroTurb™ Premium treatment systems is the revolutionary NextSand media:
NextSand is our top selling turbidity and sediment reduction media. It is composed of a rare, natural, high purity alumino-silicate mineral that is highly processed and graded in the U.S.A. The hardness, stability and microporous character of NextSand makes it a perfect filtration media for virtually every application in the water and wastewater treatment industry.
NextSand replaces traditional multi-media sediment and turbidity filters - in fact, NextSand outperforms traditional multi-media filters in every category of performance:
- higher filtration performance with 3 to 5 micron removal possible
- high capacity filtration through entire bed depth provides more than twice the capacity of multi-media filters
- 3 to 4 times higher service flow rates with less pressure drop
- significantly lower backwash flow rate than multimedia filters
- durable media with a typical life of more than 5 years
- ANSI/NSF 61 validated for material safety
The result is clean, clear water at every faucet with finer filtration, better flow rates and pressure, and less water waste than the competition.
The water flow path through our MicroTurb system is downflow. This provides optimal filtration. MicroTurb systems are designed to backwash periodically to eject trapped sediment and particulates so there are no filters to replace. The backwash function is completely automated and controlled by the premium Fleck 5810 control valve - the "brains" of the system. The control valve is connected to a drain and the backwash water, together with the rejected contaminants, is simply discharged to the drain during the backwash process. The backwash is generally programmed to occur in the middle of the night (fully adjustable) when you are not likely to be using any water.
The NextSand media has a long service life, generally 5 to 10 years. It can be replaced in about half an hour without any plumbing knowledge or special experience - anyone can do it. There is no need to replace filter cartridges every few months, saving you time and money.

Installation / Manuals
We have designed our MicroTurb™ Premium systems for ease of installation. We provide a bypass valve with each system. The bypass valve has male 1" NPT threaded fittings. If your pipe diameter is different, you can connect to the bypass with simple adapters available at any hardware store. The drain line connection is male 1/2" NPT for backwash flow rates up to 7 GPM and 3/4" male NPT for backwash flow rates of 8 GPM and greater.
The MicroTurb™ Premium system is generally designed to be the first stage of treatment in any water treatment system. It is generally installed after the pressure tank or pressure booster (if applicable), but before all other water treatment equipment.
We recommend that MicroTurb™ Premium systems be installed by a licensed plumber; however, your warranty is valid as long as your system is installed in accordance with local plumbing codes and the Owner's Manual.
Only the best components go into our MicroTurb™ Premium water treatment systems. They are sourced from some of the leading manufacturers in the business, and assembled at our factory in Canada. You can be assured that only the finest materials have gone into the manufacture of all MicroTurb™ Premium systems and that the materials used are safe for potable water contact.
